What happens if we do nothing about climate change? What happens if we let the status quo continue and ignore the most pressing environmental disaster of our time?

A groundbreaking new film by director Franny Armstrong aims to answer just that. The Age of Stupid stars Pete Postlethwaite (you know, Kobayashi) as a man from the year 2055. He looks back on footage from the year 2008 and wonders why we didn’t act on the issue of global climate change when we had the chance. The Age of Stupid will premiere live across over 400 screens simultaneously. The film will be broadcast from a solar-powered tent in New York City on September 21, and projected across the country. Head over to The Age of Stupid site to see exactly where it’s playing that night, and buy your tickets RIGHT NOW!

As an added incentive, stick around after the film where you’ll be able to watch a panel discussion live from New York, featuring director Franny Armstrong, former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, actress Gillian Anderson and actor Pete Postlethwaite. Following the panel, Radiohead’s Thom Yorke will perform the film’s title track. Pretty impressive show for the price of a movie ticket.

This is a relatively small film with a big message and big aspirations. We need you to see it and your help to spread around this trailer to as many people as possible. You should also head over to NotStupid.org to find out ways you can get involved, see how the U.S. is doing on climate action and establish yourself as a member of the “not stupid” community.

Watching The Age of Stupid on September 21 is also pretty much the perfect way to kick off UN Climate Week, a summit of nations in Copenhagen to discuss what action must be taken on climate change and how to update the Kyoto Protocol. Historic decisions on our environment could be made at this summit. Our voices on this matter are crucial.
