Screenings in Italy

22nd November. This page is under construction, sorry for all the mess. The screening information is correct.

One of the most successful countries involved in the Global Premiere on September 22nd, 2009, with packed out cinemas across the country. Alessandra, of WWF Italy, worked amazingly hard and promoted like crazy.

The Rome event went very well. There was a preview one day before the premiere with about twenty journos. At the premiere we had approximately 300 people (board, volunteers, cyberactivists, supporters, politicians, including an italian famous comedian - Giobbe Covatta - and one popular geologist and anchorman - Mario Tozzi - presenting the event).

The cinema looked fantastic with "homeless" polar bears in action holding our banners and little panda from WWF (we organized the event together). At the end of the film, people stayed to see the special contents from the satellite link. Our ED closed the event with a very engaging speech.

On September 21st / 22nd, on the eve of the UN General Assembly's climate session, The Age of Stupid was launched internationally at the biggest and greenest live film event the world has ever seen. A-list celebrities walked the green carpet to an eco cinema tent in downtown New York, linked by satellite to 700 cinemas in 50+ countries. Take a look at the photos below from the events around the world and see the Global Premiere page for the full report.

The Age of Stupid DVD double-disc extravaganza, in 31 languages and with more than six hours of Extras is now available to pre-order here. From October 5th anyone anywhere can buy a license to screen The Age of Stupid in their school/pub/church/multinational oil corporation. First screening date: October 24th (=international day of climate action). More info from the Indie Screenings website or join the mailing list for a reminder when booking opens.

Hi Franny, just a few words to congratulate you and the Team for the Global Premiere, which M and I "joined" from Rome. It was pouring on Tuesday and the cinema Aquila was not very central, to say the least; however, the interest was such that still many people came and stayed over for the live Premiere with NYC, Nepal, etc.

There was also some discussion on the movie and the situation here in Italy, with the presidents of WWF Italia and Greenpeace; not much follow-up on the 10:10 and individual responsibilities and commitments though, but I trust that those who stayed over for the satellite link got the message clear and loud and will continue to campaign.

I still hope we can find some ways to get your movie into the school system here, although I'm aware that it's probably easier in other countries at the moment - it's really a dark era for Italy at the moment. But we'll keep trying anyway. Anything else we can do to help, here we are.

I hope you and the Team had some time to rest and recover from last weeks' crazy marathon. You need all your braincells up and running long before Copenhagen!

All the best,
P
P,
ROME
